Priscilla Sayles
ADOPT A STUDENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE
SEPTEMBER, 2010
As we begin another school year, it is good to review and focus on our purpose at Zion School and Preschool:
Mission Statement
Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Philosophy
God has established Zion Lutheran School and Preschool for these reasons: To share the Gospel, to provide Christian education, to worship and serve, to accept and encourage, and to put teamwork into action.
Zion’s Guiding Principles
- Provide an environment for children to discover, develop, and use their God-given talents to His glory;
- Partner with parents in leading their children into successful, useful and purposeful living;
- Maintain the highest standards of elementary school education integrated with, and related to, the teachings of God's Word;
- Develop the kind of character which will make the graduates of our school Christian leaders in the church and world.
This year we would like to welcome Janet Jensen, our new music teacher. She’s a native of White River, SD. Her bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State College is in Music Education K-12. Janet received her Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from Wichita State University. Janet and her husband Phil have two adult children and two grandchildren in Wichita, and a daughter, Tabitha who is 10. Phil is currently a State Legislator for District 33. They also have a Saladmaster Dealership and are Real Estate investors. Janet is also the assistant worship leader at Rimrock Evangelical Free Church. They enjoy hiking, camping, convertible rides, board games, hanging out with friends and the Black Hills. Janet says, “Music is my passion and I'm excited to be able to share it with the students at Zion Lutheran!” We look forward to sharing our ministry at Zion with Janet!
OTHER NOTES OF INTEREST
· We will continue saving Family Thrift and Prairie Market receipts, Campbell’s Labels, and Big G’s Boxtops for Education, Land O Lakes Milk Tops, Coca-Cola product codes, discarded cell phones and used printer cartridges.
· Forms for the SCRIP Program are available in the office. This program allows you to put money toward your child’s tuition or make donations to our church or school, from companies that you shop at on a regular basis. Contact Kevin Kinney for further information ( 721-6612 or kkinney@rap.midco.net ).
As Zion Lutheran School begins, we have several families and single parent families who are in need of financial assistance as they strive to give their children a Christian Education. The Board of Christian Education approves assistance with parents paying at least half of the cost and volunteering time for the church or school. If you would be willing to assist these parents on a monthly basis or a one time contribution, please contact Priscilla Sayles at school 342-5749 or at home 341-0505. Thank you for your prayerful consideration as we continue with Zion’s mission to “Share the Gospel,” as we are “Securing Each Child’s Future for a Life of Service.”
