This year our TRACK MEET will be held on Friday, May 13 from 8:30AM (1600M Race) until approximately 2PM at O’Harra Stadium (School of Mines Track).  If you are assisting with events, you will need to be at the starting line on the track at 8AM.  The other races and field events will begin around 9AM.  The boys race first this year, with the girls doing field events first.  The concession stands will be open.  We are asking Zion students and parents to sit together as usual, in front of the announcers stand.

The teachers are assuming that each parent will be responsible for bringing their child to the meet and being there when the meet is over to take their child home.

Children are not to be dropped off at school on the day of the track meet.  No daycare will be available on that day.  There also will be no preschool that day.

We are looking forward to a great day, shared with other Christians.  Calvary, Memorial, St. Paul, the Homeschoolers, Black Hills Christian Academy, Black Hills Classical Christian Academy and Open Bible are participating with us this year, over 500 children.  God’s blessings for a safe and fun filled day!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHURCH ATTENDANCE

What a privilege it is to be able to worship our Lord each Sunday.  I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you as parents to take your children to church and Sunday School on a weekly basis so that your children will grow in their walk with the Lord.

Part of the Parents’ Personal Pledge found in our school handbook is your pledge to continue to make religion a part of home life by regular church attendance.  If you are an “Active Zion Member,” please be sure to sign the friendship pad, church attendance is reviewed on a semester basis for our “active members.”

If you do not have a home church, we invite you to Zion (Saturday Evening 5:30PM, Sunday Morning 8 or 10:45AM; Sunday School at 9:30AM).  May God continue to bless you as you lead and nurture your children in their Christian life.

OTHER NOTES OF INTEREST

·         We will continue saving Family Thrift and Prairie Market receipts, Campbell’s Labels (make sure they have the UPC Code and "Labels for Education" logo), and Big G’s Boxtops for Education, Land O Lakes Milk Tops, Coca-Cola product codes, discarded cell phones and used printer cartridges.

·         Forms for the SCRIP Program are available in the office.  This program allows you to put money toward your child’s tuition or make donations to our church or school,  from companies that you shop at on a regular basis.  Contact Kevin Kinney for further information ( 721-6612 or kkinney@rap.midco.net ).

At Zion Lutheran School, we have several families and single parent families who are in need of financial assistance as they strive to give their children a Christian Education.  The Board of Christian Education approves assistance with parents paying at least half of the cost and volunteering time for the church or school.  If you would be willing to assist these parents on a monthly basis or a one time contribution, please contact Priscilla Sayles at school 342-5749 or at home 341-0505.  Thank you for your prayerful consideration as we continue with Zion’s mission to “Share the Gospel,” as we are “Securing Each Child’s Future for a Life of Service.”
