We are off to a great start after last week! I hope that you all had a restful Labor Day weekend, but now we’re going to get down to business and establish our routines!

A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when God made animals and people, found in Genesis 1:20-2:25. We learn that God made us and all creatures. He helps us take care of ourselves and care for His creation. Our Bible words for this week are from Jeremiah 1:5, [God said,] “Before I formed you…I knew you.”
Monday-No school or daycare due to Labor Day holiday
Wednesday-We will have chapel in the morning with Chaplain Wilson. There will be a little envelope in the folders each Monday. Feel free to use this envelope for any Chapel offering. This month our Chapel offering goes to Main Street Living. The afternoon class will have Jesus Time in our room. We will be going to the library—hopefully you will have helped your child remember to bring back their book. We will also play a “Who’s Missing?” game as we continue to learn the names of our friends.
Friday-We will have centers that include using bingo markers to dot the first letter of our names, a project using scissors and getting to use our listening center for the first time. We will also make construction paper faces to hang up in the hallway.
Letter of the Week: We will begin our letters in a couple of weeks.

From the Teacher’s Desk:
*The beginning of the new Sunday School year is this Sunday, Sept. 12. All of Zion’s students will be singing for the services, usually at the end of the 8:00 and the beginning of the 10:45 services. There will be Sunday School at 9:30 and a potluck and games will follow the late service. Please join us for a great time!
*Book orders are due this week. If you would like to order, please make the checks out to Scholastic Book Clubs. If you order from both, just total up your amount and write one check. You can also order online with your credit card. Please see enclosed flyer about ordering online. Orders need to be submitted or turned into me by Sept. 8.
*Wednesday night classes begin this Wednesday. A light supper is served from 5:15-6PM ($2.50/person or $10/family). Classes begin at 6PM. We have 2 adult classes this season—one on God’s Word and our nation’s founding fathers and another on youth/adult relationships and understanding our youth. We also have hand bell choir and an adult choir that practices during this time. If you need more info, just ask!
