Tuesday Note for March 8-12
Tuesday, March 09, 2010 :: 16 Views :: Preschool ::

March 8-12, 2010 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
Thanks to everyone who sang with us on Sunday! What a great way to kick off National Lutheran Schools Week!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when Jesus healed a deaf man, found in Mark 7:31-37. We learn that God gives us ears to hear about Jesus and His love. Our Bible words are from Luke 11:28, “Blessed…are those who hear the word of God.”
Tuesday-We will have some fun mixing blue and yellow paint as we paint green shamrocks. We will also play a “hidden” shamrock game. I will hide a shamrock in view somewhere in the room and then the children look for it. The hard part, however, is that when they find it, they are supposed to quietly walk back to the carpet and sit down without telling or pointing. We really exercise their self-control!  We will also visit our school library.
Thursday-We will explore color combining as we draw with marker on coffee filters and then spritz it with water to make a rainbow and make more rainbows out of Froot Loops.
Books of the Week: It’s St. Patrick’s Day! by Rebecca Gomez and What Makes a Rainbow? by Betty Ann Schwartz.
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*During National Lutheran Schools Week, we celebrate being able to teach and learn about Jesus at our school. TUESDAY is Switcheroo day—wear your clothes inside or backwards! WEDNESDAY is Witness Wear day—wear something that signifies that you are a Christian (cross necklace, Christian t-shirt). Wednesday is also Pastries with Parents from 7-8AM—come and have a donut with us as you drop your child off for daycare. THURSDAY is Wild & Zany day—wear your craziest hairdo, your silliest socks…your imagination is the limit! FRIDAY is Sports day—wear your favorite sports team jersey or colors.
*Preschool registration for 2010-2011 will open to Zion church and school families on Monday, March 22. The enrollment fee this year is $60. If your child will be returning, you can enroll for either the AM or PM class. Preschool registration will open to the community on Tuesday, April 6th. If you have any questions, please ask!
*PTL’s Children’s Clothing and Toy Consignment Sale is coming faster than you think! The sale will be on April 15-17. Friends and members of Zion are welcome to participate in the sale. It’s a great way to get rid of those small clothes and unused toys—make some money for yourself and the school. You can register with Miss Nora in the office during school hours or with me after school. Registration is $5 and gets you your first pack of tags and your info packet. Even if you don’t participate, come shop and get some great deals!
If your child is in daycare: We will have Chapel on Wednesday morning, led by Pastor Lindenberg from Peace Lutheran. Our Chapel offerings this month go to help support Jason Duley, one of our former students studying at the seminary to become a pastor.
Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns.

NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE

MARCH, 2008

This month we celebrate Lutheran Schools Week.  The schedule of events is listed on the back of this note.

For Lutheran School’s Week, on Thursday, March 8, we will again be combining Cookies for Christians and our Literature Fair together from 3-6PM.  Parents have a great opportunity to stop in when picking up their children from school, to have their “cookie” and tour the classrooms which will all have displays for the Literature Fair.  Parents in preschool through grade 2 who have ordered copies of their children’s class books from Student Treasures may pick them up from the classroom; children in grades 3-5 may pick up their free copy and any copies they have purchased of their books from Student Treasures that day also.  We hope to see all of our parents on Thursday!

A FEW NOTES

·        The Board of Christian Education will be looking at staffing for the 2008-2009 school year.  Mrs. Casey will not be returning for the 2008-2009 school year…also the Board will be considering a teacher for the half day third grade and half day general educator position that was approved by the Voters in January.

·        Thanks to all of our parents who make sure their children have proper shoes for PE on Mondays and Fridays.  A few of our students have been choosing not to wear the proper shoes, so they will not be allowed to participate in the planned activity and thus reflect in the PE grade.  This is being done for safety reasons and also to help instill responsibility, being prepared for class.

·        Please remember to continue to save the various items for our school:  Campbells Labels for Education, Prairie Market and Family Thrift receipts, Kemps and Land O Lakes proofs of purchase and used ink cartridges.  The school uses the credits and checks from these items to purchase PE, recess, and classroom materials.

·        New Horizons Band will be here at 9AM on Thursday, March 13 in the Multipurpose Room…parents, grandparents and friends are invited to attend this special concert.
