Dear preschool parents (Tues./Thurs.),

We had a great week last week! Everyone seems to be settling into the routine and being able to separate successfully from mom and dad! That’s fantastic!

This week in Jesus Time we learn about when God called Abraham, found in Genesis 12:1-5. We learn that Jesus is a great God and that He is always with us wherever we go. We will be having some fun this week with leaves and the season of fall. We will be making some tissue paper leaves to hang from the ceiling and we will make some leafy squirrels for out in the hallway. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILD COLLECT SOME LEAVES AND BRING THEM TO SCHOOL ON THURSDAY? We will be using them for our squirrels and for some comparing and contrasting. Thanks! We will be sorting our leaves by various requirements this week-size, shape, color. We will also make a book with leaves in different positions, such as beside, under, over, etc. We will learn a song about the different colors that the leaves turn in the fall. Thursday is Red Day. Help your child wear red on Thursday.
We will have Library on Tuesday. Please help your child remember to bring their book back to school in order to check out another.

If your child is in daycare, we will have Chapel with Pastor Sturzenbecher, from our sister church, Divine Shepherd, in Black Hawk on Wednesday. Our offering this month is going to help one of our young church families, the Pounds. Baby Noah was born with severe heart problems and a cleft lip and palate. He has already had one heart surgery and will be having a surgery for his lip and palate on Sept. 25 in Omaha. I know that the family could use your prayers, as well.
We are practicing a medley of songs for Zion School’s 50th anniversary celebration. We will sing as a school at the 10:45AM worship service on Sept. 30. If you don’t have a church home, I invite you to come and worship with us and help us celebrate the blessings that God has given us these past 50 years!

The lunch menu orders are in the folders of the daycare kids. If your child is going to eat hot lunch next week, please indicate which days and return to me by Thursday. We have to call in the order on Friday. If you need to purchase more, remember that the lunches are $3 apiece and milks are $0.30 each. You can buy as many as you want. Make your check payable to Zion and mark how many lunches/milks you’re purchasing on the memo line.

We have a blood drive at Zion on Tuesday afternoon. You will probably have to walk through it when you come to get your child. They accept walk-ins (with ID) if you have some extra time.

Everyone should have gotten the cookie dough fund raiser forms. If you can help us out by selling cookie dough, that’s awesome! The cookies are really good! Don’t forget to go and use those coupons for the free cookie from Eileen’s Colossal Cookies!

Just an early heads-up! There will be no preschool classes on Thursday and Friday, October 4 & 5. We will have daycare on Thursday, Oct. 4 from 7AM UNTIL 11:15AM. The rest of the school dismisses at 11:15AM and so will daycare. There will be no lunch served. We will have 10 spots available, so if your child is one of our daycare kids and you need this service for those hours, let me know ASAP. The spots are first come, first serve.
