Sept. 20-24, 2010 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
We say goodbye to summer and hello to fall this week! Please remember to send jackets now as the mornings and afternoons can get cooler up here on the hill. It would also be a good time to change the extra clothes in your child’s backpack from shorts and short-sleeved shirts to pants and long sleeves. Thanks!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when Abraham is blessed, found in Genesis 1:14-19 and 15:1-6. We learn that God gives us nighttime to enjoy and to rest. Because God has shown us how much He loves us in Jesus, we can also be sure of His love and care for us through the night. Now is a great time to begin saying bedtime prayers with your child, if you don’t already. You can use “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” or just make one up. My daughter likes to say “God bless…” and then we go through each family member’s name and end with her. It’s a great bedtime routine that helps relax them and teach them that they can talk to God about anything.
Tuesday- We will be learning about fall and leaves now. We will be looking at an assortment of leaves and making some watercolor leaves. We will also sort some leaves (a great math skill) according to color and shape. We will visit our school library to check out new books.
Thursday- We will begin working on a handprint angel picture for the Art to Remember project. This is a company that will take your child’s art and put it on magnets, mouse pads, coffee mugs, t-shirts, etc. for you to order. They make great Christmas gifts for grandparents! We will also practice tearing paper (a very good fine motor skill) to make leaves for a hallway tree.
Books of the Week: Steve Metzger’s We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt and Diane Muldrow’s We Love Fall!
