Sept. 13-17, 2010 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
Thanks to everyone who came to sing with us on Sunday! Sometimes for the three year olds, just getting up there and standing is such a big accomplishment!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when God called Abraham, found in Genesis 12:1-5. We learn that Jesus is a great God; He is always with us wherever we go.
Tuesday- We will be making some circle art as we explore that round shape. We will also play some beanbag games to help us with body awareness. We will visit our school library to check out new books. We will sing, “My Fingers are Starting to Wiggle.”
Thursday- We will make some finger painting prints and play a game with a partner where we have to put sticky dots on our partner’s nose, chin, shoulder, etc. We will sing a song called, “Mary Can You Touch Your Nose?”
Books of the Week: Marilyn Sadler’s It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny and Theo. LeSieg’s I Wish that I Had Duck Feet
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*The Eileen’s Cookie Dough fundraiser ends today, Sept. 14. Please make sure to return all orders and payments. The cookie dough will arrive on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Please plan on picking up your cookie dough or make arrangements with a friend as we will not have freezer space to store dough not picked up. Thanks!
*Picture day will be on this Thursday. Please feel free to turn in the order form anytime this week if you are going to order pictures. Your child will still get their picture taken even if you do not order.
*Mark your calendars—no preschool or daycare Oct. 7 & 8—the teachers will be going to Chamberlain for a teacher conference. No school or daycare Oct. 11 for Columbus Day.
Parenting Tip: In preschool, some of the unwritten curriculum are the little life lessons that happen unscripted every day, like the bathroom routine of shutting the door, flushing and washing hands. I know at home we like to sometimes have that door open so we can see what our child is doing, but at school we have to learn that the door needs to be closed for their privacy and modesty. This week, could you help your child practice pulling the bathroom door closed when they use the toilet?
If your child is in daycare: We have Chapel this Wednesday with Pastor Sturzenbecher from Divine Shepherd. Our Chapel offerings go to help support Main Street Living, a Lutheran TV broadcast.
I pray that you have a great week. Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns!
