Aug. 30-Sept. 3, 2010 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
Welcome to preschool for our new families and welcome back to our returning ones! I am very excited for this school year and look forward to getting to know your child even better. Make sure to read these notes thoroughly as they will tell you everything that’s going on in your child’s preschool life! This note will also be posted on our school website—www.zioncrusaders.org. Just go to classroom news and then preschool.

A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when God made the world and plants, found in Genesis 1. We learn that God created the world and everything in it for His children to enjoy. Our Bible words for this week are from Genesis 1:10, “And God saw that it was good.”
Monday-We will begin getting to know each other and our school. We will talk about our classroom rules and procedures, paint over our “magic” names and make a chart of names, seeing who begins with the same letter.
Wednesday-We will have chapel in the morning with Pastor Lindenberg, from our sister church Peace Lutheran. There will be a little envelope in the folders each Monday. Feel free to use this envelope for any Chapel offering. This month our Chapel offering goes to help support Main Street Living. More info about our Chapel offering missions can be found on the bulletin board across from the 3rd grade classroom. We will be sitting with our 3rd grade Chapel buddies for the first time. We will also get to visit our school library for the first time to check out books. Enjoy the book with your child at home and then bring it back by the next Wednesday in order for your child to check out another.
Friday-We will begin working in our small groups, focusing on how to make the rotation from activity to activity. We will also play a name game. Learning each other’s name gives your child confidence when entering play groups and helps to practice meaningful letter recognition.
Letter of the Week: We will begin our letters in a couple of weeks.
Books of the Week: Amy Hest’s A Kiss Goodbye and David Shannon’s David Goes to School
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*The beginning of the new Sunday School year is coming on Sunday, Sept. 12. All of Zion’s students will be singing for the services, usually at the end of the 8:00 and the beginning of the 10:45 services. There will be Sunday School at 9:30 and a potluck and games will follow the late service. Please join for a great time!
*Book orders are in the folders also. If you would like to order, please make the checks out to Scholastic Book Clubs. If you order from both, just total up your amount and write one check. Please have all book orders back in to me by Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Help Wanted: We are still in need of calling parents for both classes. These volunteers call the parents in the class asking/reminding about items that PTL needs. This service is used usually 1-3 times per year. If you would be able to help out, please sign up on the posters in the hallway or see me. Thank you in advance!

I pray that you have a fantastic week, knowing that we are blessed far more than we really deserve! Please feel free to call me anytime with any questions or concerns!
