December 14-18, 2009 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
This is the last note for this year! Our Christmas vacation will begin at 3PM this Friday and we will resume school and daycare on Monday, January 4th. This Friday is our Christmas party—remember to bring a WRAPPED BOOK for the book exchange!
The Christmas service for grades 1-5 was postponed yesterday until Tuesday at 2PM. Join us if you can!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when the shepherds worshipped baby Jesus, found in Luke 2:15-20. We learn that God helps us tell everyone the great Good News of Jesus, who was born to save all people. Our Bible words are from Luke 2:11, 17, ”A Savior has been born to you…spread the word.”
Monday-We will be finishing up our Christmas gifts this week. We will also enjoy “painting” with ribbons to “The Nutcracker” music and a letter search for the letters in “Merry Christmas.”
Wednesday-W will have our own Jesus Time with the kindergarten classes in December as grades 1-5 attend the Advent services. Our Chapel offering this month goes to help support our local Christian radio stations. Mrs. Graumann will be leading us this week. We will be working with Letter Kk this week. Please help your child bring something that begins with Letter Kk on Wednesday. We will also visit the school library.
Friday-We will have centers that include listening to a Christmas story, making a Christmas count-down and a name necklace. Our Christmas parties will begin at 10AM and 1:45PM. We will be decorating the eating some Christmas cookies, playing a game and doing our book exchange. Remember to bring a WRAPPED BOOK!

From the Teacher’s Desk:
*During the snowy weather, please make sure to send a pair of shoes for indoors and a pair of snowboots for outdoors. Snowpants are a great idea as we play in the snow. Please make sure to send hats and mittens everyday!
*We will be doing a book exchange during our Christmas parties on Dec. 18. Your child will need to bring a WRAPPED BOOK and then will get to choose a new book to keep. I also need some help with some supplies for the parties. Please see the sign-up sheet on the door to sign up to bring something. We would love to have extra hands that day, too, if you are available. Our parties will begin at 10AM and 1:45PM. Please let me know if you’ll be there! Thank you in advance.
*Our last day of school for 2009 will be on Friday, Dec. 18th. We will have daycare until 5:30PM that day. School and daycare will resume on Monday, January 4th.
*Zion’s Advent services are on Wednesday at 10AM and 7PM. You and are family are welcome to come prepare for the Christ Child’s coming with us! We will have 2 Christmas Eve services—at 6PM and 10PM. Christmas Day services are at 10AM. New Year’s Eve services will be at 5:30PM on Dec. 31.
As you go through these busy weeks, remember to relive the magic of the season through your child’s eyes. Hear their laughter. See their smiles. Believe in the reason for the season with the heart of a child. Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns. All of us at Zion wish you a blessed Christmas!
