December 7-11, 2009 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
Your children did a wonderful job sharing the true reason for Christmas yesterday! Now that we are done with our Christmas service and practice, we can get back to work getting ready for Jesus’ birth!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when the angels told the shepherds about Jesus’ birth, found in Luke 2:8-14. We learn that the news of Jesus’ birth was so important that God sent angels to announce His coming to the shepherds and that Jesus was born to save all people. Our Bible words are from Luke 2:11, “Today…a Savior has been born to you.”
Monday-We will be working some more on our top-secret Christmas gifts. We will also play a “roll-a-Christmas-tree” game that helps with counting, one-to-one correspondence and using that writing tool.
Wednesday-W will have our own Jesus Time with the kindergarten classes in December as grades 1-5 attend the Advent services. Our Chapel offering this month goes to help support our local Christian radio stations. We will be working with Letter Jj this week. Please help your child bring something that begins with Letter Jj on Wednesday. We will also visit the school library.
Friday-We will have centers that include working on our Christmas secret project, listening to a Christmas story and playing a silver bells games with Hershey kisses to practice uppercase and lowercase letter matching.
Books of the Week: Bear Stays Up for Christmas by Karma Wilson and
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*We will be doing a book exchange during our Christmas parties on Dec. 18. Your child will need to bring a WRAPPED BOOK and then will get to choose a new book to keep. I also need some help with some supplies for the parties. Please see the sign-up sheet on the door to sign up to bring something. We would love to have extra hands that day, too, if you are available. Our parties will begin at 10AM and 1:45PM. Please let me know if you’ll be there! Thank you in advance.
*Our last day of school for 2009 will be on Friday, Dec. 18th. We will have daycare until 5:30PM that day. School and daycare will resume on Monday, January 4th.
*Zion’s Youth will have a babysitting night on Friday, Dec. 11 from 5:30-9PM if you need some kid-free time to finish shopping or just need a break. Suggested donation is $2/per kid per hour. Sign up on the Youth Board by the front bathrooms.
*Zion’s Advent services are on Wednesday at 10AM and 7PM. You and are family are welcome to come prepare for the Christ Child’s coming with us!
*You and your family are also welcome to come and hear grades 1-5 tell the Christmas message in “A Shepherd’s Story” next Sunday, Dec. 13 at 4PM.
As you go through these busy weeks, remember that God would rather give up His only Son than give up on you! Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns.
