Here we are to the last week of October and the end of our first quarter this school year! Time flies when you’re having fun! Our food drive challenge ends this week, so please send some food items if you can. Thanks!

A Peek at the Week:
In Jesus Time we learn about Daniel and the lions’ den, found in Daniel 6. We learn that God sends His angels to protect us and rescue us from harm and danger. God sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue us from the evils of sin, death, and the devil. Our Bible words this week come from Psalm 16:1, “Keep me safe, O God.”
Monday- We will learn about and have some fun with pumpkins this week. We will paint pumpkin patches and learn a fingerplay about “Old Mr. Pumpkin.” We will play a hot pumpkin game (similar to hot potato) where we think of different ways to pass the pumpkin.
Wednesday-We will have Chapel in the morning, led by Pastor Chris. Our Chapel offering this month goes to help our local Meals on Wheels program. We will visit our school library. Thanks for returning those library books each week! The AM class will leave for the fire station field trip a little before 10AM. The PM class will leave a little before 2PM. We will visit Fire Station 6 just up the road. We will be back to the school in time for dismissal. We will NOT work with Letter Ff this week because of the field trip. We will pick it up next week.
Friday-We will have centers that include making our own marshmallow-Cheerios pumpkins, sorting letters and numbers, and matching letters on pumpkin shapes. We will also play a name recognition game called “Who took the pumpkin from the pumpkin patch?”

From the Teacher’s Desk:
*We do have Halloween parties or wear our costumes at Zion School, but we do encourage you to wear those costumes and come to our “Trunk or Treat” night Oct. 31 from 5-8PM. There will be lots of candy, games, hot chocolate and hayrides! If you plan to attend, please donate a bag of candy for each child attending in the front office this week. Thanks!
*Parent-Teacher Conference times will be in the folders today. If your scheduled time will not work for you, please see or call me ASAP and we’ll try to get you a different time. Conferences only take about 15 minutes if we stay on topic! J
There will be no preschool Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 & 6 due to conferences. We will have preschool enrichment for our regulars on Thursday AM until 11:15AM. No lunch will be served. I look forward to meeting with you all!
*Don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday night before bed. I know-an extra hour of sleep and sugar digestion! Yeah!
