Sept. 21-25, 2009 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
I hope that none of your children blew away yesterday! We sat in our classroom on Monday with the 4 & 5 year olds and watched the clouds just race across the sky!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when Abraham is blessed, found in Genesis 1:14-19 and 15:1-6. We learn that God gives us nighttime to enjoy and to rest. Because God has shown us how much He loves us in Jesus, we can also be sure of His love and care for us through the night. Now is a great time to begin saying bedtime prayers with your child. You can use “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” or just make one up. My daughter likes to say “God bless…” and then we go through each family member’s name and end with her. It’s a great bedtime routine that helps relax them and teach them that they can talk to God about anything.
Tuesday- We will be learning about fall and leaves now. We will be water color painting some fall leaves and sorting some leaves (a great math skill) according to color and shape. We will visit our school library to check out new books.
Thursday- We will combine red and yellow paint to make orange as we paint some brown paper bag leaves. We will also practice tearing paper (a very good fine motor skill) to make leaves for a hallway tree.
Books of the Week: Steve Metzger’s We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt and Diane Muldrow’s We Love Fall!
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*The Eileen’s Cookie Dough fundraiser continues until October 2. Please take a close look at the order forms and information. Please make checks payable to Zion.
*Mark your calendars—no preschool or daycare Oct. 8 & 9—the teachers will be going to Chamberlain for a teacher conference. No school or daycare Oct. 12 for Columbus Day.
*Last week you received a flyer about Art to Remember. This is a company that takes your child’s art and puts it on various gift items. It’s a great idea for Christmas gifts for grandparents, etc. We’ll be working on our art this week and next—we’ll be making a picture from your child’s handprint.
Help Wanted: I am in need of some clean milk lids to use in some of our literacy and developmental centers. The school collects the Kemps’ lids, but I’ll take any others! Thank you so much!
If your child is in daycare: We have Chapel this Wednesday with Pastor Chris. Our Chapel offerings go to help Baby Devon Jass, who took his first breath 9 minutes after birth.
I pray that you have a great week. Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns!
