Sept. 21-25, 2009 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
I think that Fall decided to come a day early this year! Hopefully the preschoolers won’t blow away on Monday!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about Noah and the flood, found in Genesis 6-9. We learn that God is always with us. He loves and helps us. Our Bible words for this week are from Numbers 10:29, “The Lord has promised good things.”
Monday-We have some fun sponge painting leaves to decorate our room. We will also sort leaves according to color, shape and size. We will be finishing name recognition assessment and begin color recognition assessment.
Wednesday-We will have chapel in the morning with Pastor Chris. This month our Chapel offering goes to help baby Devon Jass, who incurred some massive hospital bills when he was born. The afternoon class will have Jesus Time in our room. We will be going to the school library to check out books. We will also begin working with the alphabet. Please help your child bring something that begins with letter Aa on Wednesday. It will come right home the same day.
Friday-We will have centers that include playing a fall concentration game, practicing some one-to-one correspondence and listening to a story about a leaf. Please help your child bring a leaf to school on Friday. We will be making a book about our leaf.
Letter of the Week: Letter Aa
Books of the Week: Ellen B. Senisi’s Fall Changes and Steve Metzger’s We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*The Eileen’s Cookie Dough fundraiser continues until October 2. Please take a close look at the order forms and information. Please make checks payable to Zion PTL.
*Mark your calendars—no preschool or daycare Oct. 8 & 9—the teachers will be going to Chamberlain for a teacher conference. No school or daycare Oct. 12 for Columbus Day.
*Last week you received a flyer about Art to Remember. This is a company that takes your child’s art and puts it on various gift items. It’s a great idea for Christmas gifts for grandparents, etc. We’ll be working on our art this week and next—we’ll be making a picture from your child’s handprint.
Help Wanted: I am in need of some clean milk lids to use in some of our literacy and developmental centers. The school collects the Kemps’ lids, but I’ll take any others! Thank you so much!
I pray that you have a fantastic week, knowing that we are blessed far more than we really deserve! Please feel free to call me anytime with any questions or concerns!
