March 16-20, 2009 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you’re wearing green today. Your children were so excited last week about the possibility of getting to pinch someone not wearing green!
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when Jesus healed a blind man, found in Mark 10:46-52. We learn that God cares about us and we thank Him for blessing us with a beautiful world and wonderful bodies, especially our eyes. Our Bible words are from Psalm 148:1, “Praise the Lord.”
Tuesday- We will practice our cutting by making leprechaun ear hats—hopefully we’ll lure some of those tricky leprechauns to our room so we can catch them! Unbeknownst to your children, we will be “visited” by a mischievous leprechaun who will leave some chocolate gold! We will visit our school library—bring those old books back!
Thursday-We will begin to say goodbye to winter and celebrate spring by making daffodil flowers. We will also talk about the different signs of spring.
If your child is in daycare-
Wednesday-We will have Chapel in the morning, led by Pastor Paepke from Bethlehem Lutheran. Our Chapel offerings this month go to help support Jason Duley, who is at the seminary preparing to become a pastor. Jason is our Pastor Duley’s youngest son.
Book of the Week: Tomie dePaola’s Jamie O’Rourke and the Big Potato
Song of the Week: “I’m a Little Shamrock” by Jean Warren (tune: “I’m a Little Teapot”)
I’m a little shamrock with petals three. You’ll have good luck if you pick me. One of my petals will bring you health, One’s for love and one’s for wealth.
From the Teacher’s Desk:
*Preschool registration opened yesterday to church and school families. If you would like to enroll for preschool next year, please return your form and payment. But get your spot soon—registration will open to the public on March 30th!
*Sign up for the children’s consignment sale with me or Miss Nora! The sale will be on April 17th and 18th.
*You are invited for a fantastic presentation by Brian Young, from the Creation Institute, on Wednesday, March 25 at Bethlehem Lutheran at 7PM. If you’ve ever wondered how to defend our creation beliefs to a scientific world, come and hear Brian explain it from a Biblical perspective. He will also be at Calvary Baptist (across the street) at 9:30AM the same day, speaking with the combined 3rd-5th grade students.
I pray that you have a fantastic week, knowing that we are blessed far more than we really deserve! Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns!
