January 26-30, 2009 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
We are back to winter this week! Please make sure your child brings appropriate outdoor wear, as we do go out for a few minutes if the wind is not blowing.
A Peek at the Week:
This week in Jesus Time we lean about when Jesus blessed the children, found in Mark 10:13-16. We learn that Jesus welcomes all people to Himself to love and bless. Our Bible verse is from Mark 10:14, ‘[Jesus said,] “Let the little children come to Me.”.’
Monday-We switch gears as we begin to talk about cowboys/girls and the best of the west. We will make hats to wear and learn about the things that a cowpoke wears and why.
Wednesday-We will have Chapel in the afternoon led by Mrs. Casey’s kindergarten class.. Our Chapel offering for January goes to Bethesda Lutheran Home. Feel free to use the little envelopes for any offering you want to send. We will visit our school library to check out new books. We will also work on Letter Oo. Please help your child bring something that begins with Letter Oo.
Friday-We will have centers that include making a foil star to hang from the ceiling for Friday, sorting out a herd of cows according to upper- and lowercase letters, and tasting some prickly pear cactus jelly! We will also sit around the “campfire” and sing some lullabies to the cows and “roast” marshmallows.
Leter of the Week: Letter Oo
Here are some rhymes we’re learning to help write letter Oo—“Oh yum! An orange to eat! Nice and round, it’s a healthy treat!”
Book of the Week: Kathy Tucker’s Do Cowboys Ride Bikes?
From the Teacher’s Desk:
**We will be having Hat Day on Tuesday, due to the fact that we hit our first $300 goal for our $2,000 goal for the Pennies for Patients project. Your child is welcome to bring in money and put in the bucket in our room!
*We will be heading to the Stock Show on Wednesday, Feb. 4th. The AM class will be leaving school at 9:10AM and the PM class will leave at 12:10PM. If you would be able to help drive, please let me know!
*Friday, Feb. 6th is a PTL Family Swim Night at the Roosevelt Swim Center from 6:30-8PM. Come and have fun with other families from school!
Help Wanted:
We’ve been having a little trouble with “messy” toilets lately. It would be a big help if you would chat with your child, especially if you have a boy, about where to aim while going to the bathroom. We realize that distractions and misfires are to be expected sometimes, but we’ve been having to disinfect the toilet much more often lately. I’ve heard one grandma say that she emptied the bowl and painted a little dot on with fingernail polish to give her grandsons something to aim for! Thanks so much for helping with this!
I pray that you have a fantastic week, knowing that we are blessed far more than we really deserve! Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns!
