Your children did such a fantastic job at their Christmas program on Sunday! It is so awesome to hear the truths about our Savior coming from such little ones. One of my favorite moments during practice was when one of the preschoolers piped up with “…and this is the stable where Jesus was boring!” 

This week in Jesus Time we learn about when the angels told the shepherds about baby Jesus’ birth, found in Luke 2:8-18. We learn that God sent Jesus to be our Savior and that He has given us the Good News of Jesus to share, just as the shepherds did long ago. We will also light our third Advent candle on Thursday, the candle of Joy
On Tuesday we will make a rectangle Christmas tree. We will also work on some patterning by making a “string of Christmas lights.” We will visit our school library on Tuesday also. This will be our last check-out for the 2008 year.
On Thursday we will be making Christmas mice with candy cane tails. We will read the legend of the candy cane. We will also be making a little book about holiday shapes.

We are getting the back ordered books from the November book order in. If you are still missing something, please see me.

Our Christmas party will be on Thursday, Dec. 18 beginning at 10:00AM. We usually have a special snack, do a craft and/or game and then do our book exchange. Your child will need to bring a wrapped book (no names) for the party. If you would be able to help out with the party or bring something, please let me know.

Our last day of daycare will be on Friday, Dec. 19th. We will be open until 5:30PM that day and then we will resume classes and daycare on Monday, January 5th.

We are working on a new mission project for December—making stockings of some essential items for the Women’s and Children’s Center (WAVI). There are sign-up sheets in the hallway across from the 4th grade room if you would like to sign up to bring something. Items needed include toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, socks and the like. We will need all items by next Wednesday, Dec. 17th in order to have time to package and deliver them before school is out for Christmas break. Thanks in advance for helping those less fortunate!
