November 24-26, 2008 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org
Here we are to Thanksgiving week and I am so thankful to have each one of your children in preschool this year. What a blessing they are to me and to each other! I heard on the radio last week that at the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims were thankful, but also still grieving the loss of family who had succumbed to sickness and starvation the winter before. They celebrated Thanksgiving not only to be thankful for what God provided for them, but also to remember to be thankful in ALL circumstances. We have an omnipotent God who deals with us with unconditional love when all we really deserve is eternal death. Now there’s something to be thankful for!
This week in Jesus Time we begin the season of Advent. Advent is a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of our King Jesus. We’ll be lighting special candles and singing special songs. We’ll also be learning about the Christmas account from the book of Luke. We begin by learning about the angel Gabriel visited Mary, found in Luke 1:26-33, 46-55. We learn that God gave Mary the Good News message that soon Jesus, the Savior, would be born. That Good News message is for us too: God sent Jesus to be our Savior.
On Tuesday we will be making some cup turkeys to take home for Thanksgiving. We will be practicing our Christmas songs and going to the library to check out new books.
WE WILL NOT HAVE CLASS OR DAYCARE ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, DUE TO THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY. Classes and daycare will resume on Monday, Dec. 1st.
We will only have a half day of daycare on Wednesday, Nov. 26. If your child is in daycare, they are welcome to bring a grandparent or other special guest that morning to join us for Chapel at 8:30AM. The preschoolers and kindergarteners will then serenade their guests with some of our Christmas songs and turkey songs. Then we’ll have a little snack and your child is free to begin their Thanksgiving break (we usually finish up right around 10AM). We will have daycare until 11:15AM for those that need it.
If you don’t have a church home, we invite you to come for Thanksgiving worship here at Zion. We will have Thanksgiving Eve worship on Wednesday night at 7PM and on Thanksgiving Day at 10AM. Please come and praise our wonderful Savior and Friend!
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, consider the Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday, Nov. 29 beginning at 6PM. The parade usually begins down by the post office and goes down Main Street. Zion will have a wonderful float in the parade, too!
Remember to save this date—Sunday, Dec. 7th at 4PM! That will be the preschool and kindergarten Christmas service. Your children will need to be here by 3:45PM and they can where their nice Christmas clothes. They will have angel haloes to put on their heads. Come early to get a seat and don’t forget those cameras!
Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns! God’s blessings on your week! Zion 342-5749 Cell 391-9046 Hope Genzlinger
