Sept. 29-Oct. 3, 2008 Knowing Jesus, Growing in Faith, Serving God’s Children
Dear Preschool parents, www.zioncrusaders.org

We are half way done with our first quarter of the school year! You’ll find that the older your children get the faster the school year seems to go by. Our goal is to just have fun getting ready for kindergarten and learn that Jesus loves us every day!

This week in Jesus Time we learn about Jacob’s dream, found in Genesis 27-28. We learn that God sends His angels to protect us and we thank God for angels. We will hear the Bible verse from Psalm 91:11 “[God] will command His angels…to guard you in all your ways.”
On Monday we will be making paper plate angels to remind us that God’s angels are always watching over us. We will begin learning about apples as we do a taste test of red, yellow and green apples. We will graph our preferences and see which one is the class favorite. We will also be making our own snack mix today for snack.
On Wednesday we have Chapel in the morning with Pastor Jones from Bethlehem Lutheran. Pastor Chris will be coming into the PM class to have our own little Chapel. Our Chapel offering for October goes to help support our local Christian radio stations. You can send chapel offering in the little white and red envelopes if you like. We will also visit our school library on Wednesday. Help your child to bring back their book. We will also begin working on our letters Wednesday. We begin with Letter Aa and I’m asking that you help your child bring something from home that begins with the letter Aa. We will use the item during our school work time and then send them home at the end of the day. Use your imaginations and have fun! By the end of the year, the kids get pretty good at hearing those beginning sounds and thinking of things themselves, but you’ll need to help them to start with letter Aa.
On Friday we will have centers that include a listening center, Letter Aa detective work, our Art to Remember projects, and more practice cutting on the lines. We will also watch a video about how apples get from the orchard to our homes.

TONIGHT IS THE PTL OPEN HOUSE and PIZZA SUPPER!!!! You and your family is invited to come back to school tonight for some pizza and cookies and to take a look into the classrooms. Cost for pizza for a family is $10. The open house begins at 6PM.

Remember!! All classes and daycare will dismiss early at 11:15AM on Thursday, Oct. 9 because the teachers are leaving to go to a Lutheran teacher conference in Chamberlain. There will be no classes or daycare on Friday, Oct. 10 or on Monday, Oct. 13 for Columbus Day. Everything will be back to normal on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

I pray that you have a great week! Please feel free to call me anytime with questions or concerns: Zion 342-5749; Home 716-7689; Cell 391-9046
God’s Blessings!
