Thank you to everyone for a great National Lutheran Schools Week! We were able to pick out over $900 of books for the library and classrooms because so many people bought from the book fair!

This week in Jesus Time we continue reading “Benjamin’s Box.” This week we will look at 3 more Resurrection eggs-some praying hands that teach us about Jesus’ prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane, a piece of leather that teaches us about the whipping and other torture that Jesus endured after being arrested and questioned, and the crown of thorns that was placed on Jesus’ head in mockery. We will be looking at a crown of thorns plant that Miss Christine has in the office. It gives us a great idea of what the crown of thorns might have been like. We will have Chapel on Wednesday afternoon, led by our second grade. Our chapel offering for March is going to one of our church members attending the seminary to become a pastor, Matt Ulmer.
On Monday we will make some tissue paper-painted crosses and we will play a counting game with Easter eggs.
On Wednesday we will have Library and we will be working with the letter Tt. Please help your child bring something that begins with letter Tt to school on Wednesday.
On Friday we will have centers that include some crayon-resist art and matching capital and lowercase letters. We will also graph some jelly beans on Friday.

We will begin a reading program called Book-It Beginners this week. It is similar to the Book-It programs that the bigger kids do. Our goal is to read as many books as we can, write down the titles on a cut-out and hang them up in the hall. At the end of March and April I will give your child a coupon for a free personal size pizza from Pizza Hut. You can get cut-outs from us at anytime.

Zion’s Kindergarten screening will be on Wednesday, Mar. 19. Mrs. Withee and Mrs. Casey will come and get your child during their regular preschool class to screen them. They will put the results in your child’s folder by the end of the class time for you to see. Mrs. Sayles will be available all day to answer any questions, get forms filled out and take your first payment.

Zion’s Easter egg hunt will be on Saturday, Mar. 22. If your child is going to participate, they ask that you bring 1 dozen plastic eggs and candy to fill them with for each child participating. There is a box in the front office to put everything in.

Just a heads up about our Easter vacation—it’s coming up pretty fast! There will be no school or daycare from Thursday, Mar. 20 to Monday, Mar. 24. School and daycare will resume on Tuesday, Mar. 25. There will also be NO Preschool or preschool daycare on Friday, Mar. 28 due to preschool parent-teacher conferences. Kindergarten through grade 5 will have school and daycare like normal.

I am now accepting preschool enrollments for next school year from our school and church families. If you have a younger child you would like to enroll, please ask for an enrollment form and handbook. Registration will open up to the community on Mar. 31, so you will want to get your spot while you can. I need the enrollment form and $50 to reserve your child a spot.
