What an amazing thing! Every year Christmas seems to sneak up quicker and quicker. This year is no exception!
This week in Jesus Time we learn about when the shepherds worshipped Jesus, found in Luke 2:16-20. We learn that worship begins with God, who announced the Good News that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be our Savior. God calls us, like the shepherds, to come offer our worship and praise. We will actually do a little Christmas caroling around the school later in the week to share the Good News ourselves.
We will be making handprint angels and some popsicle reindeer for art this week. We will play our “I Have Lost My Jingle Bell” game on Tuesday. This makes your children use their listening skills to hear where the jingle bell has stopped.
We will go to the library on Tuesday. The librarians DO want us to check out books, as we won’t get a chance to do so until Jan. 7.
Our Christmas parties will be on Thursday at 10AM. Each child will need to bring one wrapped book for our book exchange. You do NOT need to put names on the books. We will decorate some sugar cookies for snack, do a game or craft and then do our book exchange. You are welcome to come to our party if you’re available. That will also be our last day of class for 2007. We will have daycare on Friday until 5:30PM like normal. Classes and daycare will resume as normal on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008.
The lunch menus for the first week and a half of January will be in the folders. Please have them turned in by Wednesday. Thanks!
If you will be in town and don’t have a church home, I lovingly invite you to please come and worship Jesus with us, just as the shepherds did on that first Christmas. There are several opportunities:
*Wednesday, Dec. 19 Advent Service #3 10AM and 7PM
*Christmas Eve, 5:30PM Sunday School Christmas Program
*Christmas Eve, 10PM Youth-led Candlelight Service
*Christmas Day, 10AM Worship for the newborn Savior!
