Ahhhh…fall in South Dakota! It’s more like winter in the morning and summer in the afternoon! Just remember to dress your child warmly…it’s easier to take off a coat than to put on one that you don’t have. Now would be a good time to change the extra clothes in your child’s backpack to winter clothing, too!

This week in Jesus Time we learn about Joshua and Jericho, found in Joshua 5:13-6:20. We learn that God is with us to help us with our problems, especially our sin problem. He gives us the victory over sin through Jesus.
On Tuesday we will begin some fun with pumpkins by painting pumpkins orange by combining red and yellow finger paint. We will also be sequencing some pumpkins according to their size. We will visit our school library on Tuesday. Please help your child bring back their book.
On Thursday we will be making jack-o-lantern windsocks to bring home. We will carve a jack-o-lantern and discover what is inside of them. We need 1 pumpkin for class on Thursday. If you would be willing to donate one, please let me know! Thanks! We will clean off the seeds and save them to roast next week. We will also have Music on Thursday.
Daycare kids will participate in Chapel on Wednesday morning. Our Chapel offering this month goes to Care-Net Pregnancy Center. Offerings can be money or baby supplies.
The Art to Remember packets are in. If you want to buy the magnet, it is $5.50. They do make great Christmas presents for grandparents! All orders are due by Tuesday, Oct. 30.

The times for the parent-teacher conferences are in the folders this week. We will have preschool conferences on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1 & 2. Miss Nora tried her best to get you as close to the time that you indicated. If your particular time does not work, please let me know and we’ll reschedule. The conferences usually last about 15 minutes and you will see some fall assessment that we have been doing during class time.
We will have 10 spots available for morning daycare on Thursday, Nov. 1. Kindergarten through grade 5 have class until 11:15AM and then classes and daycare will all dismiss at 11:15AM on Thursday, Nov. 1. There is no class or daycare on Friday, Nov. 2.

The All Saints’ Gathering is coming! This is Zion’s alternative to trick-or-treating. There will be fun and games and lots of candy here at Zion on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5-8PM. Friends are welcome to come, too! We are asking that you bring one bag of candy for each child you are bringing, so that there is lots of candy for all!
The teachers will be taking turns running the Creation Cake Walk. If you like to bake, we would love to have any cakes or cupcakes you’d be willing to donate!
